Inaugural post! Totally spelled that first word correctly on the first try. Without spell check. Yeah, you are in for a treat!
Seriously though, thank you for checking this out, I'm excited to start sharing in different ways.
First off, welcome! What are you here for, the Hundred Dollar Heroes? Lani: The Girl Without Fear? Hoping for some other cool ideas I might have? Me too!
For this first post I'm sticking to the fiction, in the future I might wax lyrical about teaching, life with two kids, nerd stuff like the world of comics, miniature wargaming and roleplaying games. I'll make sure to have each post with a nice list of categories for you, so you can easily find what you enjoy most.
For the fiction, what I hope to be my bread and butter in the near future, I currently have two major IPs, mentioned above. If you don't know about these already, then I'm so excited to tell you all about them! If you have a little knowledge or were one of my beta readers, then thanks for showing the interest! I know these are great stories and want to share them with as many people as possible, so spread the word!
Hundred Dollar Heroes. This has been a project of mine for the better part of 20 years. It's gone through a few iterations, of course, but currently sits in a place that I feel is complete and strong. The titular Heroes are a group of super powered beings either Augments or Aliens. Augments are Earthlings who have powers because of some extraterrestrial DNA in their cells or surgical changes to their bodies. Aliens are, well, different living things not from Earth! Our story follows the team as they work to keep the world safe in a time after First Contact 150 years ago. Yes, I said work. This is a job for them. The Heroes, or HDH, are essentially mercenaries who are hired to save the world, or really pieces of it at a time.
Lani (pronounced LAN-ee) lives in a fantastical world full of danger and fear. Her lack of fear seems to be a psychological effect that renders the greatest power of the Void useless against her. At home in the advanced city of Ghal, Lani feels trapped and forced into living in a way that keeps her from being her. She plots an escape from the tyrannical city with her best friend and bodyguard Brutus, a hulking Minotaur. Soon after they make their way to the Wilds, Lani learns that the orcs, goblins, and Primals that populated Lani's favorite parts of the city are far from the strangest things in her world. Lani begins a journey with Brutus to find family hundreds of kilometers away with a lesson in how little she truly knows about her world, or herself.
That's it for now, come back often for more info on each world. I'll be doing bios on the different characters and the worlds they live in, without giving away too much, of course.
Other than that, I'll see you next time!
-Dan
