December Already?!

Dan Cole

Oh man, November is over. That means NaNoWriMo is over! I'm sure you're all wondering how I did. Two weeks(ish) ago I was on pace at 28,000 words. I'm glad to say that I made it with 50,028 words at 11:59 on November 30th. It was rough. I wrote frantically from 11pm on. I was a little drunk on whiskey that was poured for me... Either way, I made it through the sloppy typing and having to constantly reread what I wrote.

It's such a nice feeling to 'win' NaNoWriMo. Hundred Dollar Heroes 2 isn't complete at 50K, but it's well on its way to being a complete story, and I'm loving it! I came up with so many cool aliens and Augments in all kinds of weird scenarios. I even got to create another plane of existence! I had no idea that was going to happen until it did!

So, another November down, another 'win' in the books. I'm so excited to share the story with others once it's finished!

In other news, I got the 5E D&D Eberron book this past month. When I had free time and wasn't writing, I was reading this. Oh man. I loved Eberron in 3.5 (80% because of Warforged, 10% because of Shifters, 10% everything else) but I didn't realize how much I didn't know about Eberron! This book is so amazing and full of so much content I've been bursting with ideas for campaigns!

Gnash, the bat Primal in Lani: The Girl Without Fear, is based heavily on a Shifter I played in my friend Taylor's D&D 3.5 game years ago. He was so much fun to play I had to get him on the page. That whole group is actually based on the adventuring party of that game. Dasta, Kas's father, was changed quite a bit. He was a monk that specialized in grappling, but was played by my friend Dan Asta. I'm the best at names. Another character was a human necromancer named Chad's Ortheland, so making him a Void-wielder was an easy change. The last member was a Warforged that became Dart, played by another Dan. Right, three Dans at one table. It got really confusing, especially since we all went by Dan, no Daniel, no Danny. We were Dan A, Dan B, and Dan C pretty quick, which worked perfectly with last names!

I could reminisce about old RPGs forever, and if people like that, I will in the future; but for now I think that's good.

Remind me to tell you the skiff story. Or the time my brother's dwarf got his fingers chopped off. Or when my brother got a Kislevite killed by stairs. Both in the same dungeon.

Good times. :)

Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to the next entry, who knows what it'll be about? I'm thinking more about the Hundred Dollar Heroes organization.
